This scene is from season 1, episode 6 titled, “Crazy handful of nothing.” In this scene, Walter White demands he be paid for a batch of meth he made for drug kingpin, Tuco. He also demands he be paid for a second batch as well. When Walt doesn’t get his way at first, he decides to bring things to a new level by throwing to the ground a bag of fulminated mercury causing a massive explosion in the room. The dialogue Tuco and Walt exchange after the explosion is brilliant. Some consider this to be the point in which Walter White ceases to be the helpless pushover he once was, and has now broken bad. I don’t necessarily agree with that statement, but I will say that this is a turning point in Walt’s arc and it was at this point for me that I knew this would be one of my favorite shows of all time.
Anyway, tonight is the final episode of the series and I can’t help but feel a bit of nostalgia watching this clip and seeing how far Walter White has come since that meeting. If you are caught up with the show, I hope you get some enjoyment from reminiscing with this clip, and if you have not ever seen the show, I hope this clip turns you onto it. The first five seasons are on Netflix, after all.
